Basic settings

Repository Name

The name of your repository determines how users identify and reference your project.
A clear, descriptive name makes it easier for collaborators to understand the repository’s purpose at a glance and improves discoverability—especially in organizations with many active projects.

You can change or edit your repository name here.

Make Repository a Template

Template repositories provide a reusable starting point for new projects.

Enable this option if your repo contains boilerplate files, recommended folder structures, example workflows, or standard configuration patterns. Templates help teams maintain consistency, reduce setup time, and promote best practices across multiple projects.

If enabled, the repository can serve as a template when creating new repositories.

Repository Size

Shows total disk usage, including files, commits, and metadata.

Description

Provides an overview of the project. Supports multi-line descriptions.

Website

Optional project or documentation URL displayed in the repository
header.

Repository Avatar

A repository avatar gives your project a visual identity.

This is especially helpful when browsing large lists of repos—avatars act like quick visual anchors, making it easier to find what you're looking for. Many teams use avatars to reinforce branding, categorize repository types, or simply add personality to their workspace.
